TC Electronic Desktop Konnekt 6 firewire audio interface

We’re gonna talk about TC’s all-new
Desktop Konnekt 6 firewire audio interface Obviously you can see from the physical form
factor that this is going to have appeal for people who are perhaps out and about on
the road. Say you’re traveling musician on tour, in a tour bus or maybe in a hotel room
this is going to be a great device for hooking up to a laptop just
to get my ideas down quickly and at really high quality. Or perhaps you are doing podcasting. Again it’s
the kind of thing you can sling in your bag and you’re kind of ready to go wherever you are. Or perhaps you just got a home setup a
with something like this, an Imac or perhaps a laptop with just a
pair of powered monitors and you want to quickly get your ideas down the Desktop Konnekt 6 is really gonna fit into that situation. Okay we’re going to talk about some of
the features now of the Desktop Konnekt 6 Now the first thing you’ll notice is
this really big chunky volume knob we’ve got here on the right which
actually glows red when the unit is powered up. This allows you right here on the
desktop to have control of your powered monitor setup which is a really nice feature. so let’s look at the inputs and outputs
on here. We’ve got TC’ high quality impact microphone preamp. We’ve got a high Z input which
allows for direct connection of basis guitar and electric guitar for really premium quality
recording. We can also use this as a pair of
instrument inputs as well. We’ve got separate left and right
monitor output, which we can use for running our powered monitors. On top of that we’ve got a discrete headphone output
with its own mix controllable from the headphone knob on
the front panel. One of the great features of Desktop Konnekt 6
at this price point is the fact that we can actually run a reverb while we’re
directly monitoring. So if you’re a vocalist or perhaps an acoustic guitaris you
want a splash of reverb to help you it’s very easy from the control panel, that’s
included with the Desktop Konnekt 6, to set that up. Now we can also use that reverb as an AU-VST plug-in from whichever DAW application your are choosing to use.

it is not detected by my laptop…

  • TC Electronic says:

    Hiya,
Have you contacted support about this? You contact them through our website (srry, YouTube doesn't allow me to post links).

Do let me know how you go!

    Best wishes,

    Joey @ TC

  • Jacob Rodgers says:

I'm quite sure it would be, I plan on buying one in the near future for Acid Pro 7, any DAW program should be compatible with it.

  • TC Electronic says:

    Hiya,

The converters are 24bit/192kHz AKM converters, a design made in coorporation between AKM and TC Electronic.

    Best wishes,

    Joey @ TC

  • Creator's Remorse says:

'here's a volume knob which allows you to control the volume of your monitors, which is a very nice feature' – is he on drugs?

  • Maró Marosaa says:

The problem with TC are the drivers… yet Windows7 ist not officially supported. I had to change my interface from the Konnekt 6 to a ESI [email protected] to produce. Now i only use the TC for the recording part. I love my konnekt 6 but with these drivers… it sucks…

  • demwatch says:

Can you record at 24/192khz and monitor, while recording a track?

  • Jacob Rodgers says:

A $200 recording unit JUST TO GET IDEAS DOWN???

I own this and it's great for low budget recording. If I were a professional I would just get something higher up.

  • Clifford Hodgson says:

does this device has a phantom power on it????

  • TC Electronic says:

    @sakeynii – yes 48V phantom power!

  • JaBig * says:

Can the Konnekt6 be USB powered?
    Thanks.

  • TC Electronic says:

@drneme Hiya, THis unit is actually using a firewire connection so it won't fit with USB. You will need a firewire port to connect it.

    Best wishes,

    Joey @ TC

IS IT POSSIBLE TO RECORD 2 Mic´s AT THE TIME TOGETHER???

  • sangReality says:

or perhaps i just want you to tell me about the interface

  • Tanman says:

    or perhaps, or perhaps,ect. omg!

  • TC Electronic says:

@Nevsky100 I assume that you've followed the procedure as described in the manual, if not try again. If that doesn't work please contact our support and they will be of assistance to you on how to update the firmware.

  • mas502arc says:

Would it possible to use this in conjunction with the RH450's digital output connection? So I can use the RH450 as a pre? (Sorry, I'm a newbie at recording)

  • TC Electronic says:

@mas502arc – no worries – and yes, the RH450 digital out, is s/pdif compatible.

  • TC Electronic says:

@yoyoboom That sound strage.. Maybe I can help? What's the problem?

  • TC Electronic says:

@yoyoboom – On Mac or pc? – and 100% you've synced the two?

  • SONGSTICKS says:

    Hi,
I'm looking for an interface that will allow me two or more lines of simultaneous recording straight into ableton. ie: Guitar and vocals recorded straight in on two seperate lines. Will the Konnekt 6 do that for me please?
    also.. is it windows7 compatible.
    Cheers

  • TC Electronic says:

@SONGSTICKS – The Konnekt 6 is tailor made for that. – one voc and one guitar input or a stereo signal.
    – and our software, TC Near, supports windows 7.

  • SONGSTICKS says:

    @tcelectronic
    Excellent..thanks.
So is it all done through the firewire connection?

  • TC Electronic says:

@SONGSTICKS You're welcome and yes indeed, the firewire cabel is the only thing going into the computer.

  • TC Electronic says:

@drneme You have connected the stereo mic with a stereo cable?

  • TC Electronic says:

@drneme A mono mic, like SM57, will only give you mono signal, you need two mics or a stereo mic to get a stereo signal. 🙂 And yes a stereocabel can have two plugs.

  • TC Electronic says:

@drneme I like the SM57 – So one solution is to get one more.. But having different mics gives you different colors.. – We have the MP-75 TC Helicon which is a great vocal mic..
    – Other than those, I recommend Blue microphones.

  • MrMusicSweden says:

A warning to those who's thinking of upgrading to Max OS X Lion:
There are no drivers for Lion yet, so the Konnekt 6 stops working, and even makes your other audio devices not work. I had to re-install Snow Leopard to get it to work again 🙁
TC, when can we expect drivers for Lion?

  • TC Electronic says:

    @MrMusicSweden – Hi. We're working on it.

  • MrMusicSweden says:

@tcelectronic Great! Please post a note when you have a beta. I run both Lion and Snow Leopard now, so I can test early versions.

  • TC Electronic says:

    @MrMusicSweden I think there's a beta up now?

  • TC Electronic says:

@NasseerBoss normal laptops with firewire chips should be just fine.

  • TC Electronic says:

@NasseerBoss Support is, without comparison, the best place to contact, with a question like that – I urge you to do so. 🙂

  • TetrapakProdzekt says:

are those monitors dynaudio or esi ?

  • TC Electronic says:

    @TetrapakProdzekt That's Dynaudios 🙂

  • TetrapakProdzekt says:

    @tcelectronic Thanks!

  • zummingsky says:

does this interface work with Ableton Live 5 and Logic Express 7?

  • vassillioss says:

AMAZING interface for the price. I built my own speakers with "reference series" parts and initially felt like a fucking idiot because the speakers sounded like complete garbage when taking the price into account. This was listening through my computer's integrated sound card initially, and later through a native instruments audio interface. Now i realize my speakers were telling the truth the whole time, it was just my crappy D/A. Now with the dk6 my speakers actually sound like 800 skrilla.

  • DJ Ollie says:

Great video and clear explanation! I bought the Konnect 6 because of this video and I love mine! Maybe you can help me…I use it w/ my TTM57SL mixer w/ ableton Live and was just wondering how you can monitor it from the Konnect 6 and also the TTM57SL also without using 2 separate headphones??? Thanks again for this video!

  • TC Electronic says:

@deejayollie Thank you! – I'm not sure I understand the question? You want to monitor from the konnekt, but have it running through the mixer before it hits your speakers?

  • DJ Ollie says:

@tcelectronic yes on my ttm57sl i'm using my sendfx going into the input of the Konnekt6 then the output of the Konnekt going back into the returnfx of my mixer then all is outputted from my mixer using the Main volume

  • TC Electronic says:

@deejayollie – I think I see what you're getting at now – but I'm not a 100% sure at how it's done (and if it's even possible) – Please contact our support? 🙂

  • Ça me gratte says:

Hi, i got a problem, my big volume knob doesn't work, i realized that too late for the waranty because i was mixing with headphones untill now. Exactly the same problem as here: h ttp://ww w . youtube.com/watch?v=JkTGEPoxJPw , if someone can help, it would be really nice.

  • billy manna says:

The audio quality is very high. The bass is stronger than my Mac Mini output and it sounds right. The controls on this are awesome. The meter is awesome. The Reverbs are great. Pretty much everything about this device is great besides what I mentioned.

  • Flava Matikz says:

@TCelectronic Hi, I just got my desktop konnekt6 with the 2.5 software disk. I am running on a mackbook pro OSX 10.9.4.  I have a problem with the Control Panel crashing or failing to open.  The application has never opened yet.  I'm guessing I need the latest version of 3.3.0 to open the control panel and run smoothly. I submitted my email on your software page, it says that I have just been emailed the link but there is no email from TCE with the download link.  Please send me the link or tell me how I can get the control panel open so I can start using your product that I have just purchased. I expect a swift reply regarding my concern as I heard great reviews about your products.  Thank you.
